Android next up to get streaming Netflix goodness

Netflix is working on an official app that would allow users to stream movies and TV shows directly to Android devices. The company hasn’t made a formal announcement about its plans, but a recent job listing for an Android Video Playback Expert spells it out: Android will likely be the next mobile platform to get Netflix streaming. Netflix CEO Reed Hastings spent the first quarter of 2010 swearing up and down that the company was not focused on streaming to smaller screens; there were no immediate plans to implement an iPad or iPhone version—much less any other mobile version—of the service. When the iPad launched in April, however, Netflix had an app ready to go on day one
